ALBANY, NY – The Albany Devils have signed forwards Jan Mandat, Max Novak and Kevin Rooney to American Hockey League contracts. The announcement was made by Albany Devils General Manager Tom Fitzgerald.
• Jan Mandat
Mandat, 20, has played the last three seasons in the QMJHL, appearing in 112 games with Val d’Or and 68 contests with Victoriaville. His QMJHL totals include 49 goals and 84 assists for 133 points and a +51 rating. During the 2015-16 campaign with Val d’Or, the Jihlava, Czech Republic native posted a career-high 20 goals and 44 assists for 64 points and was a +37. The 6’1”, 200-lb., left-shooting forward was born Nov. 18, 1995.
• Max Novak
Novak, 25, just completed his first full professional season, appearing in 43 games with Albany. He produced three goals and 11 assists for 14 points. The Oak Ridge, NJ native made his AHL debut and played four games at the end of the 2014-15 season on an Amateur Tryout Agreement. He joined the Devils after four years with Union College (ECAC). As a Dutchman, he registered 43 goals and 53 assists for 96 points in 141 contests. As a junior, Novak was a member of the 2014 NCAA Championship team and scored the game-winning goal in the title game. The 5’ 11”, 180-lb., right-shooting forward was born Apr. 15, 1991.
• Kevin Rooney
Rooney, 23, joined the Devils at the end of the 2015-16 season as an Amateur Tryout and appeared in seven games, producing three assists. Rooney recently completed his collegiate career at Providence College of Hockey East. During his four years, the Canton, MA native helped the Friars to the 2015 NCAA National Championship and a share of the 2016 Hockey East regular season title. He had 17 tallies and 19 assists for 36 points in 144 games. As a team captain during his senior season, he contributed six goals and four helpers for 10 points in 38 outings. The 6’ 2”, 190-lb., left-shooting forward was born May 21, 1993.
