ALBANY DEVILS TIMELINE

June 10
The Devils announced that they will shift the operations of their top development team to Albany, NY beginning in 2010-11, after spending the past four seasons in Lowell, MA. The American Hockey League team will be known as the Albany Devils and will play its home games at Times Union Center.

June 17
New Jersey promoted John MacLean, who was the bench general for the team in Lowell,  to the position of head coach after Jacques Lemaire retired on Apr 26. McLean becomes the team’s first former player ever promoted to the position. Larry Robinson is named assistant coach.

August 10
New Jersey set their development coaching staffs, by promoting Rick Kowalsky to head coach of the Albany Devils, and naming Kevin Dean the head coach of the ECHL’s Trenton Devils. Additionally, Tommy Albelin was named an assistant coach with Albany, while Vince Williams will remain an assistant with Trenton.

August 26
At Times Union Center press conference, New Jersey introduces its AHL management team, including President/ CEO/General Manager Lou Lamoriello, Albany General Manager Chris Lamoriello, Executive Director Chris Ciceri and Head Coach Rick Kowalsky. The team announced the signings of nine players: defensemen Tyler Eckford, Mark Fayne, Olivier Magnan-Grenier and Harry Young; and forwards Jean-Sebastien Berube, Patrick Davis, Stephen Gionta, Tim Sestito, and Chad Wiseman.

August 27
The Devils announced the signings of eight players to AHL contracts: goaltender Dave Caruso; defensemen Tyler Miller and Chris Murray; and forwards Matt Anderson, Matt Lombardi, Jeff Prough, Myles Stoesz and Darcy Zajac.

September 25
The Devils hosted Fan Fest outside the Times Union Center, allowing thousands of fans to meet and greet the New Jersey Devils’ top prospects.

October 9
The Devils host the Adirondack Phantoms, beginning the 2010-11 season. David McIntyre scored the team’s first goal at 10:19 of the first period.
