NHL Still The Goal For Wedgewood: Coming off the highest of highs and the lowest of lows, Scott Wedgewood is hoping the 2016-17 season will be less of a rollercoaster ride. Now healthy, the 24-year-old is trying to build off his NHL experience.
“My mentality since day one when I started the sport was that I want to play [in the NHL],” Wedgewood said. “It’s something I want to keep striving towards and show them that I belong here. I’m not coming in cocky and I’m not coming in underestimating myself. I’m just going to stick to my game, focus on myself, show them what I got and make the decision harder for them. ”
Quenneville Steps Onto The Next Level: John Quenneville, the New Jersey Devils 2014 First Round Selection, is trying to make an impression during his first training camp as a professional. The 20-year-old is one of 33 forwards vying for a spot on New Jersey’s roster.
“It’s all about who shows up and plays well at camp,” Quenneville said. “For me, I think I’ve had a couple of good camps and I’ve improved during the last two. This one has to be my best. For me, I have to come in and play my absolute best and show the coaches what I’ve got.”
A-Devils Player Watch: Two-way contracts are a common a staple with professional hockey players, especially among younger players and prospects. The majority of Albany’s 2016-17 roster will consist of players operating under such agreements.
