ALBANY, NY – Once again, the Albany Devils fans have proven to be some of the most generous fans in the American Hockey League. For the second consecutive year, the Devils partnered with Albany Mayor Jerry Jennings to provide needy children with winter apparel. The program was part of the Mayor’s “Cash for Coats” Drive and began on Oct. 26 at the Devils game against the Adirondack Phantoms at Times Union Center.
Ticket holders were encouraged to make any cash donation, which went towards purchasing winter apparel.
In a letter sent from Mayor Jenning’s to Albany Devils CEO Christopher Ciceri, the Mayor stated:
“The community response to this initiative has, once again, been overwhelming, with donations up over 23% from last year. The success of this year’s “Cash for Coats” Drive will allow almost 5,000 winter items to be purchased and distributed to local elementary schools in the coming weeks.”
In two years, the drive as successfully provided approximately 9,000 winter clothes items to Albany elementary school children.
