For the second straight game, the Albany Devils square off with a team they are battling for polling position in the Eastern Conference Playoff race. The Devils, who are coming off a 2-1 setback against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Saturday, are eighth in the conference at 29-18-3-5 (66 pts.). They travel to face the Providence Bruins Sunday at 3:05 pm. The Bruins, winners during a 3-2 shootout contest against Springfield Saturday, are tied for sixth at 30-20-1-6 (67 pts.).

The Devils and Bruins are meeting for the 51st time. The Devils are 24-17-3-6 overall, with a 14-8-0-3 home showing and a 10-9-3-3 road record. Providence took all four games during the 2012-13 season with two regulation wins and two shootout victories.
The clubs last met on Apr. 5 at Times Union Center. Jon Merrill scored Albany’s goal and Keith Kinkaid made 24 saves in a 4-1 setback. Providence’s Alexander Khokhlachev led all scorers with two goals and Niklas Svedberg made 18 stops.
