SYRACUSE, NY – The Albany Devils have won three of their last four games heading into Saturday’s contest against the Syracuse Crunch at the War Memorial at Oncenter. The three wins came against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, 6-5, on Nov. 8, against Bridgeport, 5-2, Monday and at Hartford, 3-0, Friday.
- The Devils are second in the Northeast Division and seventh in the Eastern Conference at 8-6-0-1 (17 pts.). The Crunch are tied for third in the East Division and tied for fifth in the conference at 9-4-0-1 (19 pts.). Albany is 4-2-0-1 on the road, while Syracuse is 3-3-0-0 at home.
- At Hartford Friday, Keith Kinkaid made 25 saves for his sixth career shutout. Offensively, Riley Boychuk, Joe Whitney and Rod Pelley scored. Dan Kelly had two helpers and Mike Hoffell, Rostislav Olesz and Chris McKelvie also contributed assists.
- During the last four games, Kelly has registered five points (1g-4a) and a +8 rating. He is the team’s all-time leader with a +27 mark.
- Nikita Kucherov is second in the AHL and first among rookies with 23 points, backed by 12 goals and 11 assists. Namestnikov ranks third in the league with 21 points with eight goals and 13 helpers.
Devils vs. Crunch Series
Since their first meeting on Jan. 13, 2010, the Devils and Crunch have faced off 29 times and the away team has held the upper hand. The Devils are 10-16-1-2 overall with a 2-11-1-1 home mark and an 8-5-0-1 road record. Albany and Syracuse last met on Oct. 30 at Times Union Center. Reid Boucher scored in the second period, but Crunch netminder Cedrick Desjardins helped his team to a 4-1 win with 24 saves. Syracuse’s Nikita Kucherov produced two goals and two assists.
The teams will meet again at Times Union Center on Mar. 16 and Apr. 13. Games at War Memorial at Oncenter will be played on Mar. 22 and Apr. 4.
All eight of the Devils wins this season have come when posting 29 or fewer shots on goal.
