
ALBANY, NY — The Albany Devils were defeated by the Providence Bruins Friday, 4-1, in their fifth meeting of the season. The Devils are now 2-3-0-0 on the season against the Bruins, and move to 26-20-1-1 overall. Providence improves to 27-12-5-3.
Vojtech Mozik scored the lone goal for the Devils, a power play tally at 10:47 of the first, erasing the Bruins’ 1-0 lead from an Alex Grant power play goal. This was Mozik’s seventh tally of the season, and was assisted by Nick Lappin who now has seven points in the last eight games with three goals and four assists.
Anton Blidh retook the lead for Providence at 13:28 of the first period. At 14:25 of the second period Jordan Szwarz furthered their lead to 3-1 on the second power play goal of the night for the Bruins.
Peter Mueller closed the game with another tally for the Bruins at 19:24 of the third period on an empty net goal, for a 4-1 win.
Ken Appleby had 22 saves on 25 shots. Bruins goaltender Anton Khudobin saved 19 of the 20 shots he faced.
The Devils travel to Rochester Friday for a 7:05 pm puck drop against the Americans.
