HARTFORD, CT – The Albany Devils begin their preseason schedule with a 7 pm outing against the Hartford Wolf Pack tonight. The contest is a prelude to the Devils season opener at Hartford on Sunday, Oct. 6. These two teams will meet eight times during the regular season.

- The Devils were nearly a goaltender short for tonight’s game. Since the team opened camp in the Capital Region Saturday, Maxime Clermont was the only netminder on the roster. However, New Jersey assigned Scott Wedgewood to Albany yesterday afternoon.

– Along with Wedgewood, defensemen Brandon BurlonEric Gelinas and Jon Merrill were sent to Albany. As were forwards Stefan Matteau, Rod PelleyTim Sestito and Mike Sislo.

– After approximately a year and a half as playing under the name the “Connecticut Whale,” Hartford returned to the “Wolf Pack” moniker, which it first donned between 1997-2010.

– During the 2012-13 season, the Devils went 4-1-0-1, including three wins at XL Center, against the New York Rangers AHL affiliate.
