
ALBANY, NY – The Albany Devils meet the Springfield Thunderbirds for the second time this week on Friday at Times Union Center for a 7:00 pm puck drop. The Devils are coming off a 3-2 overtime win at Springfield Wednesday. The Devils stand at 21-15-0-1. The Thunderbirds’ current record is 14-13-5-2.

Kinnear Returns: Gordie Kinnear will return to Albany for Friday’s game as the head coach for the Springfield Thunderbirds. Kinnear played for the Albany River Rats from 1993-1999, and again from 2000-2001, earning a Calder Cup Championship on the 1994-1995 team. He was an assistant coach for the River Rats from 2001-2010, when the team moved to Charlotte. This is his first year as an AHL head coach.
Sexton Overtime Hero: During Wednesday’s game in overtime, Ben Sexton netted the winner with just 1:40 to go in the extra frame. He currently has 18 points (10g-8a) with Albany this season, including two game winning goals.
Albany’s Newest Members: Prior to Wednesday’s game, Albany signed right-winger Ty Loney and center Tylor Spink to PTOs. Loney was playing in Adirondack with the Thunder and holds 32 points (15g-17a) in 30 games. Spink came from the Toledo Walleye and has 36 points (12g-24a) in 33 games played.
