Devils Open With A Loss

» Box Score

BINGHAMTON, NY — The Albany Devils began the 2015-16 season with a 4-1 loss against the Binghamton Senators Saturday at Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena. Binghamton used a pair of goals in a 5:03 span to spoil Albany’s first game.

Yann Danis, who signed with the Devils organization this offseason, made 28 saves. Rookie Joseph Blandisi was responsible for Albany’s goal and Marc-Andre Gragnani picked up the assist.

Binghamton’s Chris Driedger earned the victory, stopping 32 shots. Offensively, Eric O’Dell had two goals and Colin Greening and David Dziurzynski also scored.

Greening opened the scoring, deflecting Patrick Mullen’s point shot out of midair at 9:48 while on the power play.

Albany answered with its own man-up tally minutes later when Blandisi attempted a pass through the crease to Jim O’Brien. The puck caromed off a Senators stick and over the goalline at 13:46.

In the second, Tobias Lindberg setup O’Dell with a backdoor pass on an odd-man rush at 18:37. Dziurzynski added to the lead with a wrister from the high slot at 3:40 of the third period.

O’Dell scored again from Lindberg at 10:33.

Next up, the Devils travel to face the Toronto Marlies for back-to-back 3 pm games next Saturday and Sunday. Fans can follow the action online at
