ALBANY, NY – At the Albany Devils game against the Hartford Wolf Pack Friday, Mayor Jerry Jennings and the city of Albany hosted the Cash for Coats Drive. The program was established to benefit elementary school children and is now in its seventh successful year. Last year’s Cash for Coats Drive racked up over 5,000 new coats, hats, gloves, mittens, and scarves.
“I’m always mesmerized by the generosity of the Capital Region,” said Devils CEO Christopher Ciceri. “Every year we make it a mission to make a difference in the community and we wouldn’t be able to have an impact without our fans.”
The Albany Devils Booster Club donated the 50/50 proceeds to the drive. Sponsors of “Cash for Coats” B. Lodge and Company Department Store, Freihofer’s and Burke Companies. Albany City Hall or Lodge’s Department store will be taking monetary donations until November 1.
The “Cash for Coats” Drive is also a part of Make A Difference Day, the largest nationwide day of community service.
