NEWARK, NJ — The New Jersey Devils will have nine picks at the 2016 NHL Draft, which will be held at First Niagara Center in Buffalo on June 24-25.
In addition to the 11th overall selection, New Jersey holds one pick in the second round (41), two in the third (73, 77), two in the fourth (102, 105), and one in each of the fifth (132), sixth (162) and seventh rounds (192).
Both third-round selections were acquired via trade. The Devils moved down from 36 to 42 at last year’s Draft, acquiring from Ottawa the second-round pick used on goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood and the third-round choice they currently hold at 73.
The 77th overall selection was acquired from Detroit for defenseman Marek Zidlicky in March 2015. The 105th pick came from Boston, along with a 2017 second-rounder, for winger Lee Stempniak at last year’s trade deadline.
