NJ Devils make move for Cory Schneider


NEWARK, NJ – The New Jersey Devils sent their first round draft pick in the 2013 NHL Draft to the Vancouver Canucks for goaltender Cory Schneider. NHL Commissioner made the announcement while the Devils were on the clock to pick ninth overall.

Schneider, 27, appeared in 30 games during the 2012-13 season, producing a 17-9-4 record with a 2.11 goals-against average and a .927 save percentage. During his sixth-year professional career, the 6-2, 195 lbs. netminder appeared in 98 NHL contests, going 55-26-8 with a 2.20 goals-against average and a .927 save percentage.

Selected 26th overall during the 2004 Draft, Schneider spent three seasons at Boston College and represented the United States at the World Junior Championship.
