ALBANY, NY – For the first time in his young professional career, Joseph Blandisi has been recalled by the New Jersey Devils. The transaction comes one day before the Devils host the Detroit Red Wings Friday at 7 pm.
Blandisi is tied for eighth among AHL rookies with 16 points, including seven goals and nine assists. Additionally, he is tied for first with five power-play goals. The 21-year-old also ranks second in the entire AHL with a 31.8 shooting percentage, converting on seven of 22 shots.
During his overage year in the OHL last season, Blandisi totaled 112 points in just 68 games. He registered a league-leading 52 goals and added six more in nine playoff contests.
New Jersey signed the centerman to a three-year contract on Jan. 14.
