Blake Pietila is the latest Albany Devil to be recalled to the NHL
ALBANY, NY – Another Albany Devil is getting his shot in the NHL. On Wednesday, the New Jersey Devils recalled Blake Pietila from Albany. He becomes the eighth AHL playoff-eligible player on New Jersey’s roster, joining Joseph Blandisi, Reid Boucher, Seth Helgeson, Vojtech Mozik, Damon Severson, Mike Sislo and Scott Wedgewood.
Pietila has appeared in 54 AHL games this season, producing nine goals and seven assists. Since Mar. 4, the rookie has registered three goals and three assists in eight games.
Selected in the fifth round (129th overall) during the 2011 NHL Draft, Pietila played four years at Michigan Tech (WCHA), amassing 46 goals and 60 assists for 106 points in 153 contests. Additionally, he developed his game with the United States National Development Program, winning gold at the IIHF World Championships U-17 (2010), U-18 (2011) and WJC-A (2012).
