Preview: Devils at Bruins, 7:05 PM

PROVIDENCE, RI – Coming off a dominating 4-0 victory Wednesday, the Albany Devils travel to face the Providence Bruins Friday at Dunkin’ Donuts Center. Albany will look to extend its point streak to nine games (7-0-1-0) during the 7:05 pm outing. Providence goes for its fifth consecutive victory.

The Devils remain second in the North Division and third in the Eastern Conference with a 23-8-4-0 record (.714). The Bruins are fifth in the Atlantic Division and tied for ninth in the conference with a 16-15-5-1 mark (.514).

What To Watch For

• Albany: Paul Thompson, who was returned on loan by New Jersey Thursday, is expected to be in the lineup. The 27-year-old has appeared in 22 games this season, posting 16 points backed by seven goals and nine helpers. Prior to his recall on Jan. 8, he had registered four points (1g-3a) in his last four AHL games.

• Providence: Only one team has a better power-play percentage than the Devils (24.5) and that’s the Bruins. Providence has netted 35 power-play goals on 142 attempts for a 24.6 percentage. Alexander Khokhlachev is third – behind Matt Lorito in second – in the AHL with 18 power-play points. He has totaled seven man-up goals and 11 helpers.

Devils vs. Bruins Series

• All-Time: The Devils are 28-18-2-7 all-time against the Bruins, including a 16-9-0-3 home mark and a 13-9-2-4 road record. Albany, which is 2-0-0-0 this year, went 1-1-0-0 against Providence last season.

• Last Meeting: The Devils returned from their four-game road trip and the holiday break with a 4-1 win against the Providence Bruins on Dec. 26 at Times Union Center. Scott Wedgewood made 27 saves and Brian O’Neill netted the game-winning goal. Matt Lorito, Graham Black and Corey Tropp also scored for Albany.
