BINGHAMTON, NY – Finally, hockey season is upon us. The Albany Devils begin the 2015-16 campaign on the road against the Binghamton Senators Saturday. Puck drop is at 7:05 pm at Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena. Last season, the Devils, who won 10 of their last 13 games but missed the playoffs by three points, finished the year with a 39-28-7-1 record. The Senators nine points behind the Devils in 11th place in the Eastern Conference with a 34-34-7-1 mark.

For Albany: A year ago in his Devils debut, Paul Thompson scored four goals on opening night at Adirondack. He proceeded to earn a spot on the 2015 AHL All-Star roster and set a franchise record with 33 goals. This offseason New Jersey rewarded with a two-year, two-way contract.
For Binghamton: Matt Puempel has combined for 80 points during the last two AHL seasons. In 2013-14, he produced 30 goals and 18 assists. Last season, he had 12 goals and 20 assists in 51 games. He earned his first NHL recall on Feb. 19 and made his NHL debut two days later.

The Devils are 19‐15‐2‐1 all‐time against the Senators, including an 12-6-0-1 home mark and a 7-9-2-0 road record. Albany went 2-2-0-0 against Binghamton last season. During their last meeting, Thompson’s natural hat trick helped the Devils to a 4-1 victory against the Senators on Apr. 4 at Times Union Center. Matt Lorito setup all three of Thompson’s tallies. In goal, Scott Clemmensen made 26 saves.
