ALBANY, NY – After a five-game homestand, the Albany Devils return to the road for a 7 pm outing against the Syracuse Crunch at War Memorial Arena. These two North Division rivals are meeting for the first of six games this season.
Coming off a 3-2 overtime loss against the Toronto Marlies Sunday, the Devils are fourth in the division at 4-3-2-0 (.556), while the Crunch, who are coming off a 4-1 win against the Hershey Bears last Friday, are third at 4-3-0-1 (.563).
Players To Watch
• Albany: Mike Sislo leads the Devils and is tied for fifth in the AHL with six goals. Additionally, he is first on the team with nine points and tied for 20th in the league. He is on a five-game point streak with four goals and three assists during that span. He has points in seven of eight games this season. In 255 career AHL games, the 27-year-old has 143 points with 71 goals and 72 helpers. He ranks second all-time in franchise history for points, second for goals, tied for fifth for assists and third with 23 power-play tallies.
• Syracuse: Rookie Anthony DeAngelo is tied for the team lead with seven points, backed by three goals and four assists. The 5-11, 182 lbs. defenseman was Tampa Bay’s first choice (19th overall) during the 2014 NHL Draft. He is coming off a 51-point season with Sault Ste. Marie (OHL), posting 15 points and 36 helpers.
Devils vs. Crunch Series
• All-Time Series: Friday’s game will be the 43rd all-time meeting between the two franchises. The Devils are 16-20-2-4 overall with a 5-12-1-3 home mark and an 11-8-1-1 road record. Last year, Albany went 2-3-1-2.
• Last Meeting: Matt Lorito tied a franchise record, producing five points (1g-4a) in the Devils 6-2 victory against the Crunch on Apr. 16. Joe Whitney had two goals and a helper and Reece Scarlett had a pair of assists. Seth Helgeson and Ben Thomson both scored and Stefan Matteau provided some insurance.
