Less than two weeks before the Devils season opener on Oct. 6 at Hartford, Scott Timmins wasn't even a member of the team. New Jersey acquired the center from Florida on Sept. 28. Despite arriving in Albany at the end of training camp, Timmins began the season on a nine-game scoring streak between Oct. 6-30. He was a game shy of tying the franchise record for longest point stretch.
Overall, the Devils center appeared in 61 games and had a career-high 13 goals, 26 assists and 39 points. He finished fourth on the team in points.
What Was Said By Timmins...
Hopefully, I can get a good opportunity here to play, compared to San Antonio; there is a pretty big bundle of centers there. I’m looking forward to the chance here.Scott Timmins (October 1, 2013)
What Was Said About Timmins...
We have to see where he fits in [here]. We saw him a couple of years ago in Rochester when Florida was there. Not a lot on him; potentially looking at him to be a two-way guy for us. It gives us a little more depth in the middle. He’s a guy who has had a taste of the NHL, so maybe a change of scenery and a new opportunity might be what he needs right now.Rick Kowalsky (October 1, 2013)
