Devils Control Game, But Fall In Shootout
ALBANY, NY -- For nearly 65 minutes, the Albany Devils controlled play in their own defensive zone and in the Connecticut Whale’s end. However, after outshooting their opponent nearly 4-to-1 the Devils fell, 2-1, in a shootout Friday at Times Union Center in front of 5,324 fans.
Mattias Tedenby scored 4:30 into the game when he fought free off a neutral-zone face off. His backhand snuck past Connecticut’s Cameron Talbot at the far post. David Wohlberg picked up the assist.
Despite owning a 41-15 shot advantage after three period, the Devils found themselves all square because Connecticut’s Christian Thomas scored off a one-timer at 18:05 of the first.
From there, neither team found the back of the net except for Connecticut’s Matt Gilroy, who scored the lone shootout goal.
