TROY, NY — The Albany Devils and the Norfolk Admirals are set to meet for the third time in two weeks Friday at 7 pm. Since their last meeting on Oct. 19, the Devils have only had 20 players available to fill their 20-man lineup. Mike Sislo and Darcy Zajac have missed the last four games with upper-body alignments and Eric Gelinas has since been summoned to New Jersey.
During Thursday’s practice at Knickerbacker Ice Arena, Mike Sislo was the only one of the three participating in the skate. Head Coach Rick Kowalsky hinted after Wednesday’s outing against Syracuse that the right-winger will be an option this weekend.
“I feel good,” Sislo said. “I’ve felt good all week. I’ve been doing a little more every day and I feel comfortable out there. I think I’m ready, so hopefully I can get in there. I’m just excited to be back on the ice with the guys.”
“I haven’t been off too long,” Sislo said. “I think just getting bumps in and getting comfortable with that. I’ve done that the past few days in practice, so I feel ready to go.”
In 128 career games, the 25-year-old has 54 points with 23 goals and 31 assists. In five games this year, he has a goal.
Friday’s puck drop is slated for 7 pm. Despite the three early season match ups between the Devils and Admirals, the teams won’t meet again until Feb. 22 at Times Union Center.
