TROY, NY – This week has been all about movement for the Albany Devils: movement with the roster and movement between ice rinks. Since the beginning of the day Sunday, the team has posted 16 transactions and skated at Boardwalk Hall, Times Union Center, AmeriHealth Pavilion and Knickerbacker Ice Arena.
Two players right in the thick of things are Bryan Haczyk and Kelly Zajac. The duo was recalled from Trenton (ECHL) Sunday, returned to the Titans Tuesday, played an ECHL game Wednesday and recalled back to Albany Thursday in time for practice.
“It’s definitely been crazy,” Haczyk said. “I mean two games Friday, Saturday and then up to Atlantic City, back to Trenton, stayed in my apartment for a few days, played a game for Trenton and then packed up and came back up here. So it’s been pretty hectic, a lot of traveling and stuff, but it’s been a lot of fun.”
Zajac, who graduated from Union College last Spring, said he is ready and willing to play where ever and whenever.
“It’s definitely been a roller coaster ride — as I guess you would say,” he said. “I like to play hockey and I like to play the game, so if you are going to send me up and send me back down to play in games, I will do that. It’s an easy travel, only two hours or so. If I can get in games anyway, I’d love to.”
Haczyk and Zajac’s recalls weren’t the only transactions from Albany Thursday. Left-winger Harry Young was reassigned by the New Jersey to Albany from Kalamazoo (ECHL). He is expected to be available for the Devils 7 pm contest at the Adirondack Phantoms Friday.
