The Albany Devils enter the final week of the regular season tied for sixth in the Eastern Conference with 89 points (38-23-5-8). They travel to face the Portland Pirates Wednesday at 7 pm at Androscoggin Bank Colisée before returning home against the Springfield Falcons Saturday at 5 pm at Times Union Center.

With two games remaining, there are a number of different scenarios in which the Devils can clinch a 2014 Calder Cup Playoff berth. The simplest formula is to win either of this week’s games. The scheduling works in Albany’s favor as eighth-place Hershey and ninth-place Norfolk face off twice this week.

3

The Devils are coming off three straight home victories this past weekend. They defeated the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, 2-1, Friday, the Providence Bruins, 2-1, in a shootout Saturday and the Syracuse Crunch, 4-0, Sunday. The Devils have the fourth-best home winning percentage in the AHL at .689, going 23-9-3-2. Minus the four home games played at Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall, Albany has a .742 winning percentage (23-7-2-1) at Times Union Center, outscoring opponents 103-70.

Saturday’s regular-season finale is also “Fan Appreciation Night.” The first 1,000 fans attendance will receive a Devils drawstring backpack. Additionally, prizes will be handed out throughout the game. Fans can log onto thealbanydevils.com/fan-appreciation-night to enter to win a chance to shoot for 2014-15 season tickets during an intermission contest.

Both games this week can be watched online or on mobile devices at ahllive.com. Fans are encouraged to use the hashtag #AlbPor for Friday’s contest and #AlbSpr for Saturday’s affair.
