What To Watch For: Dec. 9-15



The Albany Devils are on a three-game winning streak and have earned points in five-consecutive games. Additionally, the team is 9-2-1-0 in its last 11 outings. Last week, the team defeated divisional-leading Springfield, 6-4, at Times Union Center and beat Binghamton, 3-2, in a shootout at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.


The Devils 14-7-1-1 mark is the franchise’s best record after 23 games. The 2009-10 team was 12-8-3-0 and the 2011-12 club was 12-8-2-1 after 23 outings. The fastest Devils team to 15 wins was the 2009-10 team, which hit the plateau (15-11-3-0) after 29 contests.


This week includes three divisional games for Albany. The team travels to Bridgeport for a rare 11 am game Tuesday at Webster Bank Arena. The Devils return home for a 7 pm contest against Bridgeport Friday and a 5 pm outing against Hartford Saturday.


Albany is second in the Northeast Division and tied for fourth in the Eastern Conference at 14-7-1-1 (30 pts.), going 7-4-1-0 at home and 7-3-0-1 on the road. Bridgeport is fourth in the division and tied for 11th in the conference at 9-10-1-3 (22 pts.), including 6-5-1-0 at home and 3-5-0-3 on the road. Hartford is fifth in the division and 15th in the conference at 9-13-0-2 (20 pts.), going 5-5-0-1 at home and 4-8-0-1 on the road.


The Devils will host a “Teddy Bear Toss” during the second intermission Saturday. Donations from the event will benefit children of the Capital Region. Fans are encouraged to bring new or slightly used Teddy Bears or stuffed animals to the game. An announcement will be made and fans can throw the stuffed animals onto the ice. They will be collected and distributed to non-profit organizations.
