Whitney Gets First NHL Recall


NEWARK, NJ – Joe Whitney, who has led Albany in scoring for the past three seasons, got his first NHL recall. The New Jersey Devils announced the transaction before their 11 am practice Thursday at AmeriHealth Pavilion.

Whitney is currently ninth in the AHL with 36 points, backed by a team-high 16 goals and 20 assists. In 178 career games with the AHL Devils, he ranks second all-time in franchise history with 131 points and 57 goals.

The 25-year-old played four seasons with Boston College, posting 40 goals and 102 assists in 161 games. He was a member of the 2008 and 2010 NCAA Championship teams.
