ALBANY, NY — Joseph Blandisi says he is 100 percent after missing the last three games with an ankle injury. The Devils rookie was sidelined after blocking a shot during the team’s 3-1 win against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Nov. 25.
Since then, Blandisi has made several attempts to get back into the lineup, but the coaching and training staff have proceeded cautiously.
“I probably stress them out a little bit, being a pest and trying to get back out there,” Blandisi said. “They found a way to hold me back and, hopefully, it will be good for me.”
Blandisi is just one of a list of Devils players, including fellow rookie and roommate Blake Coleman, who have missed time recently with injuries. A fact that has pushed Blandisi to try and get back onto the lineup sooner.
“I tried to go out for warmups one game,” the 21-year-old said. “I was in the dressing room when I saw Coleman go down. I was in the dressing room trying to get my skate on. They said ‘get out of here you are going to inflame your ankle again.'”
Entering Albany’s back-to-back home games this weekend, Blandisi is nearly a point-per-game player. He has six goals and eight assists in 16 contests.
