NEW YORK — After erasing a 2-0 deficit, the New Jersey Devils surrendered a pair of goals within 35 seconds late in the middle frame, falling 6-3 in preseason action against the New York Rangers Monday at Madison Square Garden.
Mike Sislo, who had 20 goals and 20 assists in 65 games with the Albany Devils in 2014-15, registered his first goal of the preseason. His power-play tally came at 16:47 of the second period and followed Jordan TooToo’s man-up goal from 7:30 of the first period.
After the Devils mounted their comeback, New York’s Chris Kreider scored at 18:13 of the second and Viktor Stalberg found the back of the net at 18:48. In the third, Oscar Lindberg added to the Rangers lead at 14:43.
Megna produced the final result with a man-advantage tally at 19:28.
Netminder Cory Schneider made 10 saves on 12 shots in 32:46 of action. Danis, who suffered the loss, made seven stops on 11 tries in 26:17 of play. At the other end, Antti Raanta made 11 saves, while Hellberg had 12 stops.
New Jersey resumes its preseason schedule Wednesday with a 7 pm against the New York Islanders at Barclays Center.
