Newark, NJ – The New Jersey Devils have agreed to terms with forward Nick Lappin to a two-year, entry-level contract. The announcement was made by Devils’ Executive Vice President/General Manager Ray Shero.
The contract will start with the 2016-17 season, and he will currently report to the Albany Devils on an Amateur Tryout agreement.
Lappin, 23, recently finished a four-year career at Brown University (ECAC). This past season he led the Bears in goals (17) and points (33), while finishing third in assists (16). He was named to the All-Ivy League First Team at the conclusion of the season.
He finishes his 123-game collegiate career with 51 goals and 55 assists for 106 points, while accumulating 79 penalty minutes. He served as Assistant Captain during his final two seasons. While at Brown, he played with his cousin, Tim, and current Albany Devils forward, Matt Lorito.
Lappin spent his previous three seasons before Brown in the USHL, split between Cedar Rapids and Tri-City.
The 6-1, 175lb., right-handed shooter was born on November 1, 1992 in Geneva, IL. He is the son of former NHLer Peter Lappin, who played for the North Stars and Sharks.
