ALBANY, NY – The Albany Devils host the St. John’s IceCaps Friday at Times Union Center for a 7 pm face off in a crucial playoff race game. Goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood earned his second shutout victory of the year when the Devils won 3-0 against the Syracuse Crunch Wednesday. They hold a record of 36-30-2-3. The IceCaps are coming off a 5-2 loss against the Toronto Marlies Tuesday. They hold a 33-28-8-2 record.

Happy Lappy: Nick Lappin had a three-point game against the Crunch Wednesday at Times Union Center when he netted a power-play goal, a short-handed goal, and earned an assist on a Brian Gibbons’ short-handed goal. Lappin has 24 points (11g-13a) in 30 games played with Albany this season.
Playoff Watch: The Devils currently hold third place in the North Division with 77 points and a .542 points percentage. They sit behind the Marlies and the Crunch who have 85 (.599 pct) and 81 points (.570 pct), respectively. Man Down Magic: The Devils netted two short-handed goals during Wednesady’s victory over the Crunch. The first was a Lappin goal after he forced the puck into the neutral zone to spring himself on a breakaway. The second was a Brian Gibbons goal which was off a pass fed by Lappin into the offensive end. With the pair, the Devils now have eight shorthanded goals on the season.
