Game 3: Devils at Comets, 7 PM


UTICA, NY — The Division Semifinals matchup between the Albany Devils and Utica Comets shifts to the Utica Memorial Auditorium for Game 3 Tuesday at 7 pm. The Devils own a 2-0 series advantage and have a chance to advance to the Division Finals. Albany is coming off back-to-back wins against Utica Friday (3-2) and Saturday (5-1).

The Devils finished second in the division and in the conference at 46-20-8-2 (.671). The Comets were third in the division and seventh in the conference at 38-26-8-4 (.572). Albany went 19-13-5-1 on the road during the regular season, while Utica was 18-11-5-4 at home.

What To Watch For

• Albany: The Devils need one more victory to advance to the second round of the Calder Cup Playoffs for the first time in their 10-year history. The team has never had the opportunity to play in a clinching game while leading in a playoff series. During the 2010 Calder Cup Playoffs, the Lowell Devils lost 4-1 to the Worcester Sharks during the first round; during the 2014 Postseason, Albany lost 3-1 to the St. John’s IceCaps.

The Devils power play has three goals on eight attempts, operating at 37.5 percentage after two playoff games. Reid Boucher, Jim O’Brien and Pavel Zacha have the goals.

• Utica: The Comets are hoping to carry over their success on home ice from the regular season to the postseason. The team went 18-11-5-4 (.592) at the Utica Memorial Auditorium, outscoring opponents 103-90. Darren Archibald, who played during Game 1 but not Game 2, did not practice Monday. The left-winger is in his fifth professional year and during the regular season, he produced 10 goals and 19 helpers in 51 contests.

Last Time Out

Game 2 Recap: A four-goal second period outburst propelled the Devils to a 5-1 win against the Comets Saturday at Times Union Center during Game 2. Scott Wedgewood finished with 22 saves. Jim O’Brien (2g-1a), Reid Boucher (1g-2a) and Damon Severson (3a) led the Devils with three points apiece. Pavel Zacha extended his point streak to four games (2g-3a) with a goal and Ben Thomson scored for the third time in four games.
