ALBANY, NY — Rookies Matt Lorito and Max Novak both participated in the Albany Devils practice Monday at Times Union Center. The two players have been out of the Devils lineup with injuries, but are potentially ready to return this week.
Lorito missed Friday and Saturday’s games against St. John’s after hurting his ankle during Wednesday’s contest against Hartford. He is Albany’s leading scorer with 33 points, which ranks first among AHL rookies.
“We’ll find out more today,” said Head Coach Rick Kowalsky after the skate. “He looked pretty comfortable out there. We were just going to let him go on early and if he felt good then let him participate in the practice; pretty much full capacity today. We’ll see how we feels this afternoon and if we can get him back into it regularly tomorrow. Then he’s a possibility for Wednesday.”
Novak, who had missed 11 games between Dec. 15 and Jan. 13 with a broken hand, is still recovery from that ailment and also an injured foot. He is less of a possibility this week.
“It’s just because the hand is not completely healed,” Kowalsky said. “It’s a little sore. He also took the shot in the ankle, so it’s kind of two different things there. I don’t think he will be available Wednesday — possibly the weekend.
The Devils will practice Tuesday at Times Union Center before hosting Hershey Wednesday at 7 pm.
