ROCHESTER, NY – For the final road trip of the regular season, the Albany Devils travel to face the Rochester Americans Friday at 7:05 pm. The Devils have points in 24 of 37 road games this season, going 18-13-5-1.
Albany, which is guaranteed to finish second in the North Division, is second in the Eastern Conference at 44-20-8-2 (.662). Rochester tied for fifth in the division and tied for 12th in the conference at 34-35-3-1 (.493).
What To Watch For
• Albany: Matt Lorito and Mike Sislo are neck-and-neck in the team’s scoring race. Lorito has 54 points, including 18 goals and 36 assists, in 69 games. Sislo has 53 points, backed by 27 tallies and 26 helpers, in 56 outings. Lorito’s point total ranks seventh all-time in franchise history, while Sislo’s is tied for eighth. Additionally, Lorito ranks tied for fifth of assists, while Sislo is third for goals.
• Rochester: Rochester, who has been eliminated from postseason consideration, is 2-2-1-0 in its last five games. The team is coming off a 2-0 victory at Lake Erie Sunday. Andrey Makarov made 30 saves for his ninth win and first shutout of the season. Cole Schneider, who began the season with Binghamton, leads the team with 55 points, including 20 goals and 35 helpers.
Devils vs. Americans Series
• All-Time: Friday’s game will be the 18th all-time between the two clubs and the Devils are 9-7-0-1 with a 5-3-0-1 home mark and a 4-4-0-0 road record.
• Last Meeting: The Devils shutout the Americans, 3-0, on Feb. 13 at Times Union Center. Ken Appleby had 26 saves in his first career shutout and win. Graham Black, Mike Sislo and Jim O’Brien each scored and Reece Scarlett had a pair of assists. The Devils grabbed a 2-0 lead early in the first thanks to Black’s goal at 2:20 and Sislo’s tally at 8:37. O’Brien concluded the scoring with 34 seconds remaining in regulation.
