HERSHEY, PA – Head Coach Rick Kowalsky will get the first look at his 2015-16 team as the Albany Devils travel to face the Hershey Bears Thursday for a 7 pm preseason game at Giant Center. The contest is the first of two preseason outings for Albany, which faces the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins Friday.
With 28 players currently on the roster, the Devils will experiment with a few different lineup combinations. This will allow management and staff to evaluate the players in game action before setting their Opening Night roster next week.
“All the first year guys will play preferably both games,” Kowalsky said. “You still want to start getting some of your veterans in there and giving them one more game. Some played more NHL games than others, but we want to get as many young guys in there as possible.”
Players who did not attend New Jersey’s camp last month will trying and make an impression. Among those players, Joe Faust, Corbin McPherson and Max Novak are all under contract and are trying to earn a spot. Ken Appleby, Alexandre Carrier, Gunnar Hughes, Dave Shields and Jacob Sweeney are all at camp as tryouts.
• Uniform Notice
Albany will be wearing New Jersey Devils sweaters for their preseason game. The team will transition to their regular-season garb for Opening Night against the Binghamton Senators on Saturday, Oct. 10 on the road.
