DEVILS (16-5-3-0) vs. ICECAPS (12-7-5-2)
ALBANY, NY — The Albany Devils and St. John’s IceCaps square off Tuesday for the first game of their back-to-back series at MileOne Centre. Puck drop is at 6 pm (Eastern) and both teams are trying to bounce back after losses.
Entering the game, the Devils are second in the North Division and third in the Eastern Conference at 16-5-3-0 (.729). The IceCaps are third in the division and sixth in the conference at 12-7-5-2 (.596).
WHAT TO WATCH FOR
• Albany: The Devils are coming off a 4-0 setback at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins Saturday. This season, Albany is 6-0-1-0 after a loss. Mike Sislo and Matt Lorito — the Devils leading scorers — will try and get back on track after being held off the scoresheet for the last two games. Sislo leads the team with 22 points and 13 goals and Lorito is second with 21 points and first with 17 helpers.
• St. John’s: The IceCaps are on a three-game skid, including a 3-2 overtime loss against the Rochester Americans Saturday. Gabriel Dumont and Stefan Fournier both scored and Eddie Pasquale made 32 saves. Bud Holloway leads the team with 24 points, posting seven goals and 17 assists in 24 games.
DEVILS VS. ICECAPS SERIES
• All-Time: Tuesday’s game will be the ninth all-time regular-season meeting between the Devils and IceCaps. Albany is 4-3-1-1 all-time against St. John’s with a 2-3-0-0 home mark and a 2-0-1-1 road record. Last year, the Devils went 2-1-1-0 against the IceCaps, who were affiliated with the Winnipeg Jets.
• Last Meeting: Paul Thompson scored at 3:56 of overtime to give the Devils a 2-1 victory against the St. John’s IceCaps on Dec. 2 at Times Union Center. Albany and St. John’s exchanged goals in the first period. Sislo scored a power-play goal at 11:16 and St. John’s Dumont tied the game at 11:36. Yann Danis registered the win, making 17 saves.
