Beyond Regulation: The Rats improved to 4-0-0-0 in games requiring extra time or a shootout when they defeated Hartford Friday. Kevin Rooney and Ben Sexton scored in the third period to force OT and Mile Wood netted the game-winner 1:43 into the extra frame. Albany is 2-0 in games decided in overtime.
The Extra Mile: Wood’s tally Friday was his first career game-winning goal and his second tally of the season. The Rats’ rookie has points in back-to-back games (1g-1a) and three points (2g-1a) in the last five contests.
Rat Pack: Assistant Coach Sergei Brylin and Goaltending Coach Scott Clemmensen may feel nostalgic today. The team has been rebranded the Albany River Rats for the day. Brylin played 150 games for the Rats, spanning three seasons during the mid-to-late 90’s. He registered 137 points with 57 goals and 80 helpers. Clemmensen appeared in 145 games during the early-to-mid 2000’s and had 35 victories.
