A New Month
The Albany Devils enter February with points in eight of their last nine games, going 6-1-2-0 during that span. Last week, they earned four-of-six points with wins against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, 4-1, on the road Thursday and against the St. John’s IceCaps, 2-1, in a shootout at home Saturday. The team did fall to the IceCaps, 4-1, Friday.
Devils Challenge The Crown
First up this week, the Devils travel to face the Manchester Monarchs at 7 pm Wednesday at Verizon Wireless Arena. The Monarchs are the second-best team in the Eastern Conference with a 27-10-4-2 record (60 pts.). With the help of the AHL All-Star break, Manchester only played one game last week — a 3-1 win against the Portland Pirates Friday.
The Devils travel to face divisional rival the Springfield Falcons Friday at 7 pm at MassMutual Center. Albany is 3-1-0-0 against Springfield, which is third in the Northeast Division with a 26-15-4-0 mark (56 pts.).
New Year Results
Since the beginning of the new calendar year, the Devils are 8-4-2-1 and sit in fourth in the Northeast Division at 22-15-4-5 (53 pts.). The team will try and improve on their 9-8-2-2 road record this week.
Fans can cheer on the Devils from afar with a viewing party Friday at Recovery Sports Grill in Guilderland, NY. Fans are encouraged to arrive before the 7 pm puck drop to secure seating. All individuals will have a chance to win several great prizes.
