What To Watch For: Mar. 30 – Apr. 5
With just nine games remaining in the regular season, the Albany Devils are making a push for one of the final spots in the 2015 Calder Cup Playoffs. Thanks to a four-game winning streak and a 31-25-5-6 record (73 pts.), the team is within five points of the seventh-place Worcester Sharks (37-23-4-2, 80 pts.) and the eighth-place Portland Pirates (37-24-5-1, 80 pts.).
Back-to-Back in Norfolk
Last week, the Devils earned a pair of victories in a two-game set against the Norfolk Admirals at Scope Arena. Albany claimed a 4-3 overtime victory Friday and followed with a 3-1 win Saturday. Joe Whitney led all scorers with two goals and two assist and Paul Thompson netted a hat trick during Saturday’s game.
Albany plays three games in four nights, starting Wednesday with a 7 pm outing against the first-place Manchester Monarchs (43-16-6-2, 94 pts.). The Devils then travel to face the ninth-place Springfield Falcons (34-27-8-0, 76 pts.) Friday at 7 pm before returning home to battle the 13th-place Binghamton Senators (25-35-6-1, 57 pts.) Saturday at 5 pm.
The Devils and their fans will salute the Armed Services during Saturday’s “Military Appreciation Night”. All active and retired service members will receive free admission to the game by showing proper identification at the Times Union Center box office. The festivities begin at 3 pm in the Times Union Center Atrium for a pregame party.
