After playing just three of their last 13 games at Times Union Center, the Albany Devils begin a six-game homestand this weekend. The team hosts the Worcester Sharks Friday (7 pm), the Syracuse Crunch Saturday (5 pm) and the Springfield Falcons Sunday (3 pm). The Devils are 14-9-2-3 at home this season.
Three of Four
Last weekend, the Devils registered three-of-four points during their travels to Newfoundland. After falling, 2-1, in overtime against the St. John’s IceCaps Friday, Albany responded with a 2-0 victory Saturday. Stefan Matteau scored in both games and netminders Scott Wedgewood and Scott Clemmensen combined for the 28-save shutout Saturday.
Entering the week, the Devils are six points out of a playoff spot. With a 26-23-5-5 record and 62 points, Albany trails the eighth-place Worcester Sharks (31-21-4-2, 68 pts.), the ninth-place Hartford Wolf Pack (30-21-5-3, 68 pts.) and the 10th-place St. John’s IceCaps (28-25-6-2, 64 pts.).
