ALBANY, NY – Marc-Andre Gragnani could be in the lineup as early as Wednesday when the Albany Devils host the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at Times Union Center. Gragnani has missed the last six games with an upper-body injury, which occurred during the team’s 4-3 victory at the Syracuse Crunch on Nov. 9.
Gragnani began the season with eight assists in 10 games and despite his absence, he ranks third in the AHL with seven power-play assists.
“He’s cleared, ready to go,” said Head Coach Rick Kowalsky after Monday’s practice. “He will be available on Wednesday.”
Gragnani’s return couldn’t have come sooner as the Devils have seen a wave of injuries to their defensemen. Raman Hrabarenka was injured on Nov. 13, Reece Scarlett on Friday and Vojtect Mozik on Saturday. All three are lower-body injuries.
However, Kowalsky did indicate that Scarlett and Mozik are possibilities on Wednesday
“They are both feeling better today and we’ll get them on the ice and try tomorrow,” Kowalsky said. “If they are healthy they are a possibility for Wednesday.”
Upfront, Chris McKelvie (upper) and Jim O’Brien (lower) are not skating with the team and remain out indefinitely.
